Mac and Cheese

Mac and cheese with bread crumb topping in glass pan
Consider baking longer to "crisp" the cheese and bread crumbs on top!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Begin cooking pasta
  3. Make a roux in separate large pot
    1. Melt butter over medium-high heat
    2. Slowly add flour, whisking to keep smooth
    3. Set heat to low when bubbling begins, continue whisking for 2-5 minutes
  4. Slowly add half and half, whisking to keep smooth
  5. Add 3-1/2 cups of the cheddar and all parmesan cheese, stir thoroughly
  6. Combine ingredients, stir thoroughly
    1. Al dente pasta
    2. Fully melted cheese sauce
    3. Salt and pepper
  7. Pour into glass baking dish, smooth top
  8. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top
  9. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top
  10. Bake uncovered until cheese on top has melted and breadcrumbs are lightly browned, about 20 minutes
